For individuals, your account is free with no ads, and there's no business behind your conversations. If you want more space and files that don't expire, there's weSmile Pro, arranged through support: US$40 a year (there's also a monthly option, US$4 a month, to arrange with support). For businesses there's a separate version (bots, voice assistant and website integrations), from US$4 per person per month, with a free 1-month demo.
5 GB for the files in your personal chats, up to 25 MB per file. They count toward whoever uploads them: a file you send to a group is stored once and counts only toward you, not toward everyone in the group. You can see how much you use in «You» → «Storage», where you can also free up space. If you need more, weSmile Pro comes with 100 GB.
On the free account, the files you send in your personal chats are kept for 1 year from when they're sent. 30 days before, we let you know so you can export them (they download to your device); after that the file is deleted and the chat shows an «expired» mark. Message text never expires. With weSmile Pro your files don't expire, and in a company its plan and retention policy apply.
No. It works in your phone's or computer's browser. If you want, add it to your home screen and it opens like an app, with notifications even when it's closed.
They're stored encrypted on the server (AES-256-GCM), and files have no public address. They're not end-to-end: that lets you log in from any device and see everything instantly. Calls travel encrypted between the devices of the people in them, without going through our server; in a big group, what comes from other capsules arrives through another participant's device.
Only your contacts. To add you, someone needs your code or your link, and you decide whether to accept or block.
Yes. Deleting a message "for everyone" really deletes it, file included. And from Settings you can delete your whole account.
